The Weight

You try so hard to carry within

All the hardships and failure grim

Filling your life to the bitter brim

With failure's dark and gruesome hymn

Don't slip up here or don't slip up there

Don't slip up here or anywhere

Must always be perfect everywhere

Lest you then miss life's fullest mark

+

But little cracks then fully zither

To and fro breaking and dither

Till all your will goes to thus wither

Under your imperfections' weight

+

Your heart is breaking

Busting and quaking

Psyche fully shaking

Sanity forsaking

+

Sin is wrapping so loudly on your door

Wanting to bring it's great self to the fore

Wanting it's monstrous large form on the floor

To crush you under it's weight evermore

+

But slowly Christ's soft grace emerges

To allow in time it's purges

Of all dire thoughts and evil urges

That evict us from our good lives

+

You can't live with such a heavy weight

Can't go on with heavy self hate

Trust God and he will then change your fate

All you must do is on him wait

+

Then his grace flows like an ardent song

One for which you dream of and long

Suddenly you're gone from the throng

And a peace descends upon you

+

Leave behind what kept you up so late

Leave all that failure at his gate

Leave the deep loss and keep your paths straight

Don't get crushed under all "the weight"
