The Weight of Yesterday
Rising Beyond the Struggles of the Past

I’ve walked through years of silent pain,
Through storm and fire, loss and rain.
Each step I took, the past held tight,
A shadow clinging in the night.
I tried to run, I tried to hide,
But memories stayed, they lived inside.
The faces blurred, the voices stayed,
In sleepless nights and skies that grayed.
I built my dreams on broken stone,
And walked this road so much alone.
The laughter once that filled the air,
Now lingers soft, a fleeting prayer.
Mistakes I made like ink on skin,
A map of where I’ve been within.
The words unsaid, the bridges burned,
The lessons lost, the pages turned.
Yet through the dark, a whisper grew,
A voice I thought I never knew.
It spoke of strength beneath the pain,
Of hope that rises up again.
The past may weigh upon my chest,
A heavy heart, a soul distressed.
But I am more than what I’ve done,
A battle fought, a race still run.
With trembling hands, I reach for light,
To chase away the endless night.
For every scar, a tale is told,
For every fall, I rise more bold.
I will not be what held me back,
Nor crumble ‘neath the things I lack.
The past has shaped, but not defined,
A brighter fire within my mind.
So here I stand, though bruised and worn,
Not bound by all that left me torn.
The weight of yesterday may stay,
But I will walk a brand new way.
