The Way to October

And What to Do When You Get There

Come on down
It’s not far from town
And everyone’s doing it
But we’re only here for 31 days

It’s not hard to find us
If you don’t have the time ‘cuz
We’re coming to you
No matter what you do…

Listen…

Late September is our front door
November is in the back
Nearest to the orange and black
Costumes
In one of our largest rooms
And watch out for the cat
Back there chasing that darn bat
But hey, come up here first
And see what’s on offer:

We are your childhood Six Flags
Open ‘em up and dump those bags
Into a pile
An instant smile
If you dive in
And swim with a grin
You might scrape your chin
But toss ‘em up by the handful
And “let’s do it again!”
Comes in for the win!

Later, it’s under the lights
On Friday night
And then under the bleachers
Away from prying eyes of teachers

I got you a mum
Sorry I’m all thumbs
Maybe your mom can help us pin this thing on

The parade floats are stunning
And you agreed to this plus one-ing
So I’m stunned, too
Barely know what to do
Until “Sail On”
Comes on
And I can dance slow
That much I know

But it’s now getting late
And the month’s almost over
Hey, I loved your dog Grover
But your dad
And his “Thriller” laugh
Might just be
A little bit scary

So I’m turning this pumpkin around
Heading back to town
I just saw the sign for November
Around that last bend there
And I’ll walk you to your door
But nothing more…

Oh hey, thanks for stopping by
Let’s give next year a try
Remember September
Is up in the front
November’s in back
And we’re the place
You can fill up your sack
With memories
And a chilly breeze
Plus a slight tease
Of winter
Not so very far away
