A sudden wave of nausea hits. Thick and slick in the air around me.
Drowning me in it. A gasp. A whine of my lungs as I try to breathe in.
Tears cloud my vision. Breathe. Just Breathe.
Hairs raise at the back of my neck. Something is off.
Eyes open and dart around the vacant room.
Nothing inside. I’m leaning on the doorway.
I’m alone. No one is here.
And yet, it’s there. It’s right there.
Ears ringing. Sounding the alarm of something wrong.
Something. Anything? Everything.
The weight of it digging into ribs.
Crawling up my spine.
Clawing into my soul.
I gasp. I shake. I cry out.
Still, it chokes.
It burns the flesh.
I can smell it consuming me.
Ripping apart.
Then hands. Cold and calm.
Pressed to my face.
Calming voice saying my name.
Pulling me back from the brink again.
Lids open. Lashes flutter.
Tears fall down silently.
Another attack.
Another hit.
Sometimes, it really just sucks to always live your life ready to flee.
