The Watch

My morning song

The juncos crowd

the railing thick with snow

They ponder have

The chickadees yet fed

The sparrows titter

busy beaks so poised

to find their prize

The cardinals are

a couple blessed

And blue jays herald here

Familiar friends in

iridescent garb

The woodpecker strums his rhythm

in isolation

no need to share

I can walk on

My day fulfilled.
