One voice among a crowd

Is not very loud

Even with a megaphone

It will not be heard

Amidst the cacophony

Of noises and static

Surrounding them

***

One voice among a crowd

Cannot get their message across

Because no one will listen

To the lone coot in the street

Shouting their pleas

Of doom and gloom

***

But one voice joined by another

And then another

And yet another

Soon becomes a wave

That cuts through the sounds

Of the urban jungle

***

When one voice is joined

By another

And another

And another

Their voices raise above the rest

And the crowd is forced to listen

***

When one voice is joined

By others

They plant the seeds of change

In the cracks of the cement

Where they might one day sprout

Into a movement

That even the dissenters cannot ignore
