Were it always this way, one might understand

But once upon a time, it was not

Resting on their laurels, one should have never planned

For their very soul have they committed to be forgot

How could such a splendid thing become so wrong

It was the benchmark of the good not long ago

In it's place something was left that earns no song

Replacing something once our young were forced to know

How have we forgotten the better parts of ourselves

As such evil was brought unto us all

It still remains in books on duty old shelves

As we hudle toward the inevitable great fall

Because forsaking what once was for what is now

Such a brutally unforgivable mistake

Future generations to look back and say wow

When did it all become so meaningless and fake

To allow it to be villainized and twisted so easily was weak

And paying the piper when one would rise who'd be strong

They villainized something good, to pander to the meek

Making the truth that thing so many would see as wrong
