The Vastness

Don't Fall

By Calonte ThomasPublished 8 years ago 1 min read

I hear the vastness of my existance.

It calls to me. I do not dare to answer.

I'm afraid to touch my greatness. It is prickly and too bright.

My soul is an old one with wisdom beyond my years. I'm tempted to shout into the void. "Hello! Can you hear me?"

I've swam so far away from my tears they threaten to evaporate and rain down on me once again. I do not welcome this storm. It has left me for the last time and I do not welcome it again.

How do I tell you of my smallness when you see me so immense. Dare I peek beyond these shadows and be burned by my own spirit? It's too cold in here. I'm covered in these thin strings of angel's lace that hold my breath just so. If I look into the vastness will it consume me? Will I survive there without my cloak? Can I return if it's too hard? I can not breathe without them. I can not breathe with you. I can not breathe...
