Racism, oh racism,

You are a cancer in our society.

A virus that spreads like wildfire,

And infects the hearts and minds of humanity.

You take many forms, from subtle to blatant,

From microaggressions to hate crimes.

You thrive on fear and ignorance,

And you destroy lives and divide communities.

You're the reason why George Floyd can't breathe,

Why Ahmaud Arbery can't run,

Why Breonna Taylor can't sleep peacefully,

Why so many black lives are cut short.

You tell us that skin color determines our worth,

That some are more valuable than others.

You create barriers and limit opportunities,

And you reinforce the status quo.

But we won't be silenced,

We won't be intimidated.

We will stand up against you,

And we will fight for justice and equality.

We will call out racism when we see it,

And we will dismantle the systems that perpetuate it.

We will listen to the voices of those who are most impacted,

And we will amplify their calls for change.

We will build bridges instead of walls,

And we will work together to create a world

Where every person is valued and respected,

Where every person has the opportunity to thrive.
