The Universe is Behind My Door
With her there, Life is easier to handle
A lot of my life has been tough
And I struggled on a daily basis,
So much negativity in my head
Because life was not an oasis.
***
So tough that I used to believe
Destined for hell meant reincarnation,
Oh no, I was adamant, not for me
I was not heading for damnation.
***
The deeper I began to dig
I found information that made sense,
I’d actually chosen my lessons
Before my life was to commence.
***
Why I chose to learn them all
In one tough lifetime, I’ll never know,
But at this realisation and knowledge
I knew the negativity had to go.
***
I began working with the Universe
Or Mother Nature as I know her,
Everything happens at the right time
But my thinking was enough to deter.
***
I began asking for help and believing
Surrendering to my higher power,
Life, while still tough at times
My new thinking enough to empower.
***
Now I know there’s someone on my side
I’m finally at peace like never before,
When trouble is on the horizon
I allow The Universe to answer my door.

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.
