The Uninvited Guest

A wedding lost to shadows

By Sama HabibPublished 3 months ago Updated 3 months ago 1 min read

Dress of lace

Chantilly cream cake

Spying eyes with no face

Unwilling glances you take

Gazing from afar, my skin you trace

Haunting my shadows, you make my skin shake

Until crimson blooms on my dress of lace

Going to waste along with my Chantilly cream cake.

Dress of silk

Eyes peeping behind walls

Dress white as milk

Pushing veiled stares as my skin crawls

Dirtied dress of silk

As my body falls.

Dress of Tulle

Cake going untasted

It feels so cruel

Your appetite will never be sated

Jumping at shadows makes me a fool

Invisible stares have my steps hasted

My face blank as my body cools.

Dress of chiffon

Something feels wrong

The day I had been waiting for an eon

Ruined, one bride among the throng.

Dress unworn

Cake uneaten

Dreams torn

Hidden villain unbeaten

Unseen as a ghost

Delivering us our wedding toast.
