The Town of October

No one is safe here

Welcome to the town of October.

Filled with screams and lost dreams.

Where wandering souls dance with vampires.

Creating voodoo schemes with ancient demons.

The veil is thinnest here.

A world between.

Witches gather like tattered forgotten about children.

Kettle corn scented air amongst the stench of putrid, decaying leaves.

Dead bodies and zombies, twins.

It’s hauntingly beautiful just so.

Victorian and otherworldly.

Full of southern gothic charm.

October, Florida.

Gators and humans just as deadly.

Meat suits hiding the real monsters.

Something akin to skins.

The serial killers aren’t just in the headlines of newspapers.

They’re Bob and Mildred a few doors down.

Old money concealing the truths.

Sheets with holes in them.

Strange fruit feeding the moss on the Spanish oaks.

When the sun sets no one is safe and sound.

Only the damned live here.

Bless your heart darlin’.

It’s only All Hallows Eve.

Just silly stories and make

believe told in chilly fall air,

around bonfires about the

good ole days.
