The Tide Rolls In

Walking along the Beach on a Summer's Evening

The Tide Rolls In on A Summer's Evening

I stroll along the shore as fades the day,

Clear footprints mark the path that I have gone;

With face upturned to catch each warming ray,

I pause as breezes cool where sun has shone.

Each wave rolls in, a pattern well designed—

Not planned by man, but by a hand divine.

My heartbeat slows and quiet floods my mind,

As amber rays wash o’er the sands of time.

No longer do the prints of my two feet,

Show me where I walked or where I’ve been;

Daylight recedes and I the darkness greet—

Not knowing what awaits beyond this scene.

Today I’ve laughed, I’ve lived, I’ve loved, and so

A hopeful heart directs me as I go.
