The Things We Leave Behind
We walk away but do we really forget ?

The Things We Leave Behind
We spend our lives collecting things,
That time can never truly own.
Yet all the gold and diamond rings,
Mean little when we’re left alone.
A photograph with faded smiles,
A letter tucked inside a drawer.
Can carry hearts across the miles,
Long after footsteps walk no more.
The richest soul is not the one,
Who filled their house with earthly gain.
But one whose kindness lit the sun,
For those who walked through grief and pain.
For every word we leave behind,
May plant a flower where tears once grew.
A gentle thought, a heart that’s kind,
Lives on when everything else is through.
The clock keeps turning without rest,
Each dawn arrives, each evening dies.
But love outlives the final breath,
Like faithful stars in endless skies.
So leave your laughter in the wind,
Your hope within another’s soul.
For these are treasures without end,
The only riches time can’t stole.
When all is quiet, still and deep,
And earthly voices fade away.
Our love becomes what others keep,
A light that never fades to grey.
So measure not your life by years,
Or fortunes gathered on the way.
But by the hearts that smile through tears,
Because you passed their path one day.
