The Tenth House

Ode to October in 31 Lines

By Amos GladePublished a day ago • Updated a day ago • 1 min read

Little houses made of boxes

On a roadside in a valley

Empty valley near the mountains

Twelve houses in a row

You arrive the 10th house

Made of earth, petrichor, and spice

This home is temporary

This home is quite nice

Little houses made of boxes

On a roadside under stars

Empty valley near the mountains

Tenth house a bungalow

Sunlight through the windows

Shadowed patterns through the dust

The home has a basement

Dark basement creepy musk

Little houses made of boxes

Where black cats meet to rally

Empty valley near the mountains

Tenth house topped with a crow

When the end comes quite brisk,

kids, smile big and smile sweet

The time has now come

To move down the street

Little houses made of boxes

Full moonshine through the alley

Empty valley near the mountains

Eleventh house you’ll soon go

Empty valley near the mountains

Twelve boxes in a row

Cycle never ending, a comfortable flow
