The Tapestry of Change
Never-Ending Unique Palette
Each of us holds the brush
That colors our soul,
As we paint the strokes
That seep into blank canvas.
And how easy it is,
to envy another palette,
Whether near or far away,
As the image you’d like to portray?
The blues, they yellows,
The tangerines, the greys,
The multi-colored universe
That goes on endlessly each day.
In contrast with our canvas,
That sits incomplete,
That’s lacking in beauty
And details, and things.
So many options,
so little time.
Quickly, paint a picture
To keep up in line.
To make neighbors awe
At the talent you have.
To have the prettiest colors,
The most beautiful amalgams.
But how much can an image
Really soothe the soul?
Colors chosen by the painter
Are expressions, after all.
And if life is a copy,
Of something you want,
Instead of an expression
Of something you have,
What do you really possess?
Someone else’s vision?
Their expression, their love,
But nothing that came from within.
The uniquely vibrant tapestry
That resides in your heart
Is blocked by the image
You’re forcing into art.
From imitation to expression
Is where true change lies
It blossoms from within,
Not from the envy of your eyes.
And when the colors inside
Match your canvas outside,
Wear their unique blends of
never-before-seen realities with pride.
