The Taking

Believe it or not, Imperialism helped give birth to Capitalism in America. When there was no more land to take, the wealthy still kept taking. Today, the rich provide things that we don't need. While making it harder to get basic necessities. Only in America is acid is cheaper than penicillin.

The Taking

Spitting into darkness,

thinking it all relative.

Grinding bones into dust,

while calling others savages.

Taking only for glory,

they know not hunger.

Not pain nor listlessness,

only the drive for more.

Spoiled meat and fur pelts,

the hunt has evolved.

Trophies before necessity,

for those who have all.

Those who have nothing,

have nothing to give.

Finders will always keep,

losers lie awake at night.

The taking does not cease,

it grows and changes shape.

Once seen upon vast lands,

now in a large warehouse.

Everything had been taken,

false priorities now established.

The haves ascend to Godhood,

while the have nots quietly erode.
