The System

The cost

By Mark Stigers Published 4 months ago • 1 min read

Money money everywhere

But who will help poor

We even have a trillionaire

They say we must do much more

Just where do you draw the line

As to what is fair

Does government make it fine

Why should I even care

The communist say

Nothing is really yours

That you are just a slave

How does one endure

The capitalist proclaim

The good of the rising tide

But not all the same

Are the boats on which we ride

Some say an army there should be

Who fights for a soul’s salvation

That a vow of poverty

be the root off their creation

The will of the many

Outweighs the wants of the few

The cost to the penny

Should only be what’s due

The system has many forms

That ride on the backs of us

To each we must conform

Or the system will go bust

There is much to appall

in the lives of nine billion souls

A trillionaire could give them all

A hundred bucks to lessen their woes

How should a human live

So not a soul is lost

What is it one should give

To pay the true cost
