The Sweet Escape From Purgatory
About life, longing, and our inner pains.
Longing is such sweet torture, but we maintain our need to suffer it so
To stop longing for that which was better hurts the very part of us
That part that we call a soul
Deep in the heart of silence lies some solitary thoughts of before
And all the things that once were, and sadly won't be again
We live in that special place, a place in time and space
Where nothing other than what's in front of us shall ever matter
And to escape that special spot, it would leave us even sadder
For it would mean that it wasn't there to grab onto
And our grasp can no longer satiate our desire
It would mean that we are done with that chapter of life
Our souls burning in the pain, like the fires below
Do not be afraid to long for peace and pleasure
For they mean there was a happy existence
But, once upon a time
To find that again, not an easy task before you
But one that's worthy of the undertaking
For it is the search that matters as much as the destination
So focus not on what once was in your journey
Pay heed to the things which put it in the rearview
And focus on what is before thee
