The Svengali

Smooth Pirate

He whispers empty words,

Like a pirate's parrot perched on your shoulder.

You can not get him out of your head,

Like a parasite he embeds thoughts in the mind.

Rent free, he resides in you,

Narcissism and Machiavelli traits he has,

It feels like he is permanently fixed on you.

Before you knew he was exerting control,

He would speak so smooth, so harmonizing.

He would glide in like a snake catching prey,

Like a hot knife through butter.

The Svengali, like a demon, stops at nothing,

He learns all about you and whatever is yours,

Will become his or at least that is his pursuit.

He will destroy you internally,

Until you are beckoning from the other side.

Not a bad choice of terms, or use of open form!

Ah svengali, heard the word but just knowing the meaning. Classic narcissist that one. They are smooth, selfish to the core. yet they cannot help it, it is a genetic flaw. It is up to you to run fast and far. Great poem.
