The Superb Owl

A Sporting Sonnet

By D. J. ReddallPublished 4 months ago 1 min read
An AI Generated Image

While steroid saturated soldiers clash

The owl of Minerva spreads her dark wings

Wagered, won and lost are oceans of cash

While wisdom circles in widening rings

Conspiratorial whispers arise

A lovely songstress is rumored to be

One soldier’s paramour but, in disguise

A puppet of deep state chicanery

Meanwhile, Minerva’s feathered avatar

Wonders where Achilles and Hector are?

Long ago, battles left many a scar

To sort out who the most virtuous are

No longer do we do battle for gods

We worship filthy lucre and make odds

Sonnet
