The Sunset

A Poem

The sun sits high

Above every cloud

It protects me from darkness

That I won’t allow

It reminds me of life

Of hope, of laughter

Darkness reminds me

Of those brought to slaughter

It sets and I reach

For the final rays of light

But it left me again

In the darkness this night

Alone and scared

Is how I feel

Cringing fear

On my knees I kneel

Every second

The fear get bigger

Should I use a knife

Or pull the trigger?

I beg for mercy

I'm losing my mind

Until the sun finally rises

With an innocent smile, so kind.
