The Sun Sets With Apologies
When leaving is a necessary pain
If this is the final time that I
Will see the sun in your company,
The final glimpse of cerulean sky
To darker hues of navy,
Then let the Golden god portray
The words I’m too ashamed to say-
***
The sun sets with apologies
For the bathers in his warmth
As fuchsia tide pool mirrors
Reflect the worries of the warned.
The ever sinking mango rays
Give sweetness to our bitter lies,
Bathing us in royal shades
‘Til the honey turns to stinging cries.
***
The sun sets with apologies
For the cravers of his warmth
As bitter winds take comfort in
The darkening of the north,
And wispy clouds make passes at
The sulkers of the nightfall
Through visions of escaping death,
That are only met with freezing breath.
***
The sun sets with apologies
For the users of his warmth
But luna has her qualities
That rival sol’s support.
The glowing moonlight plays with us,
Makes devils of our shadows,
But gives a pearly softened shine
To the edges of our poison arrows.
***
The sun sets with apologies
For the beggars of his warmth
Though shaking hands do nothing
To recall Apollo forth.
But when you sit, demoralized
and watch the lonely coast,
My sigh will tease the salty breeze
To pull you out of the freeze.
***
If this is the final time that I
Will see the sun in your company,
As compatibility goes awry
And we disconnect our energy,
Then let my guilty sorrow flow
Where all our lost emotions go.
***
For now we gaze into the fading
Artistry of the lord,
My eyelids heavy with regret;
Let the sun convey my words-
***
Let him tell you that the gravity was cruel to me
That the solar flares hounded my being
Let him tell you that ocean breeze was calling me
That the crashing waves signaled my leave
Let him tell you with his shallow light as he dips below the emerald sea
That I simply had no choice to leave.
***
The sun sets with apologies
For the seekers of his warmth,
Acknowledging the strength he has
To defy the darkest storms.
Yet still he must align himself
With what he knows his path to be,
Forging on around the globe
For vital self-discovery.
***
The sun sets with apologies
For the keepers of his warmth
Who still hold hope for his return
Like a vice around their hearts.
But woe is never permanent
And night is not eternal,
Remorse becomes a rosy light
When the sun returns with greater might.
