The Sun Is Broken
The heat will destroy and burn the earth

The Sun Is Broken
The sun has stayed too long again
Its light no longer feels alive
The roads release their stored-up heat
While empty gardens barely survive
The windows trap a heavy breath
The walls feel closer every day
Even the evening lost its purpose
Night arrives and will not stay
People search for cooler places
Move through hours with tired eyes
Talking less and sleeping badly
Watching pale horizons rise
Someone said this weather is normal
Someone laughed and changed the page
Still the trees stand still as statues
Holding quiet summer rage
I think the sun has cracked in half
One side burns and one side mourns
Pouring fire across the rooftops
Leaving sharp exhausted mornings
Nothing dramatic ends the world
No trumpet sounds across the land
Only days that feel misplaced
And heat that nobody had planned
Families gather in shaded corners
Sharing water, closing blinds
Remembering cooler summers
That now seem harder to find
Outside the light stays unforgiving
Golden once and now severe
As though the sky forgot its limits
And forgot we still live here
Maybe tomorrow clouds will gather
Maybe rain will finally come
Until then we walk beneath it
And whisper quietly—
the sun is broken
