The Summer Garden
Walking amongst the birds and trees
Brown eyes to watch me as I dare to tread,
Crowned by a wavy mess I long to touch,
I gaze upon your slender limbs instead,
The heat of your embrace is near too much.
I walk and bring sweet water just for you,
At times I leave light stepping, full of joy,
The sun, the heat won't kill my love so true,
My greatest fear: too much heat doth destroy.
And then the berry red doth grab my eye,
My thoughts turn to harvest and desire,
I lift my eyes to gaze at the blue sky,
I feel at last the promise in that fire.
Oh I love that tended garden of mine,
Birds, trees, Mother Nature truly divine.
