The Sufferer

Struggle beneath Success

My voice crackled,

Raging insults in my ear.

Disappointment fills my heart,

Dejection drowns my soul.

I am a sufferer --

Suffering from simply existing, yet also from my own success.

Placed upon a pedestal,

Pressed by circumstance.

Perfectionism claws at me,

Chaining me to endless trial,

A trait that may be my end.

I strive to better myself,

Only to lose myself in the process.

Trapped in the loop of achievement --

Freedom, nothing more than a wish.

About the Creator

Anu's Quill

I’m just an existential wanderer who happened to stumble into poetry. I think about writing more than I actually write—not the best poet, but trying to get better, word by word, as I share my thoughts and voice.
