The Strongest of Men

Ancestral Homeland

Far in the homeland of my ancestors,

There’s a story of the strongest of men,

Who longed for a life by his own measures.

So off he sailed to build a home again.

As I stand on the soil left behind,

I’m filled with a power I never knew;

“He’s here with me”, I recite in my mind.

Does he know the imprint he left is true?

I gaze across the fjord, his blood in me;

The sweet breath of summer kissing my face,

The sound of little waves dancing, happy;

My beating heart going at its own pace.

My soul is remade in her new haven,

His name, on my heart, I will engraven.
