The String of Pearls
There is more to a pearl necklace than it's worth
Fine and fair they rested upon her neck,
Smooth, white, and gleaming.
Their sheen glowed in a pink hue,
Catching glances from every eye.
They graced her neck like a crown,
An accent to the beauty.
They spoke well of their bearer,
Grit made to elegant birth.
A costly prize not all could wear,
Speak of undying devotion.
The weight of each a cool reminder,
She was worth even more than these.
Gifted with music, a dance and spin,
A promised surprise delighted in.
This is a necklace of white pearls,
A gentleman's happy boast
And a lady's displayed pride.
