🌧️ The Story of Rain

A Poem, A Dream, A Reflection of Life

By JanalamPublished about a year ago • 2 min read

Rain… It falls, drop by drop, Touching the earth, Soaking the heart, Lighting lanterns of thought. Clouds gather, Stretching their dark curtains across the sky, And the scent of wet earth Opens hidden windows of the soul. This rain, Sometimes it sings the song of monsoon, Sometimes it repeats the elegy of separation, Sometimes it awakens a flame of hope, And sometimes it chains us in memories. Childhood Rains I still remember… The first rains of childhood, When water filled the courtyard, And we folded little paper boats, Setting them adrift upon the ripples. Mother would call from the rooftop: “Come inside, you’ll get sick!” But what did we care? We only knew how to play in the lap of rain, We only knew how to dance To the music of raindrops. After the downpour, The fragrance of soil would rise, As if the earth had quenched A thirst carried for centuries. Youthful Rains Then time changed, Faces changed, memories shifted, And rain, too, transformed. It was no longer just play, It became the language of the heart. Sometimes delicate like a lover’s smile, Sometimes bitter like the tears of parting. In moments of love, Rain was music upon the strings of the soul. Two hearts beneath one umbrella, Hiding in each other’s warmth, While every drop of rain testified That love was alive. Lonely Rains But rain does not always bring joy. Sometimes it takes much away. On nights of solitude, When thunder roars, And raindrops drum against the windowpane, Loneliness deepens within. The sound of rain Can remind you of laughter once shared, Or of silence once endured. Each drop, falling steadily, Opens the floodgates of memory. Rain and Dreams Rain is a dream, Suspended between earth and sky. It is a gift from the heavens, That breathes life into soil. When it falls, The earth quenches her thirst, And the farmer’s eyes shine with relief. Fields sway with green promise, Rivers begin to sing, Mountains inhale deeply. Rain is not just water— It is a line of life, A prayer answered, A mercy revealed. The Philosophy of Rain Have you ever thought? Rain teaches us patience. Clouds gather for months, Winds shift their course, And only then do the drops fall. It feels as though Human prayers are the same. They take time, They ask us to wait, And one day they come true— Just like rain. Rain and Poetry For the poet, Rain is never just a season. It is the ink of his pen. Every drop is a word, Every cloud a metaphor. Poems written in the company of rain Emerge from the depths of the soul. Final Scene But rain always ends. The clouds disperse, The earth stays damp yet glowing. The sun peeks with a gentle smile, And across the sky An arc of rainbow appears. This is life itself… Sometimes it weeps like rain, Sometimes it laughs like the sun, And in the end, It becomes a rainbow of colors.
