Crashing lightning and howling winds

The storm inside me starts up again

Raging flood waters knock me back

The sky in my mind turns pitch black

This is no ordinary everyday storm

It's one I've carried since I was born

Like a violent gust bringing down trees

It weighs so much I drop to my knees

I possess a sadness that's not my own

But in my heart it found a home

A world so full of sorrow and pain

Falls on my shoulders like pounding rain

The storm rages on, I can't help but wonder,

If it's inside me is my voice the thunder?

I open my mouth and let out a scream

Wake in cold sweat, it was only a dream.
