The start of a new chapter
1st set of poems from college to the big wide world.
Last week of May
The music pounds in her ears.
She looks outside the window as the lyrics of the song resonate with her current situation.
She does not know what the future holds and is the first time she actually has to think about it.
She still will try to do a good job, fake every terrifying emotion going through her brain.
She will do her best because that is all she knows how to do.
She knows failure is not an option after all; this position was the end goal of those sleepless nights.
June 24
The first day in a corporate world would be more memorable if she had over 4 hours of sleep. Her nerves took the better of her.
She knows this is just a stepping stone on whatever she is meant to be, and truly what is she meant to be? Who is she other than just a new number in a company?
She misses having a goal; she misses trying to reach for something because now she had apparently reached her dream, which was land a good job after graduating, and she should be happy.
She should smile. She is doing her best to be happy, but when the night creeps in on June 24, she realizes she is not. The night strips her facade away and now she can truly remove the fake smile and words she had been sharing with her loved ones; she doesn’t want to be a burden. She knows her pain is ludicrous and absurd; she has everything and she should be thankful. She decides she can put on the cheerful face and big smiles during daylight but the nights belong to her tears and her emptiness.
