The Splendid and the Strange

The month of October invites greatness and the grotesque.

Bite down and taste cinnamon’s draft.

Note pumpkins drooling out sweet things.

Notice the witch’s craft.

Look at the crow’s burdensome wings.

Feel the coolness through denim jeans.

Behold the golden leaves.

Lift high the season’s means.

Break through to where a trunk or treater cleaves.

Cling to the Nobels who discover their laurels.

Know the time for bringing truth.

See their excellence in most of their morals

Lend your tongue to speak through your tooth.

October bleeds with the promise of change.

The month brings the splendid and the strange.
