The sorriest daisy
Apologizing to the grass
Just for casting a shadow
Blurting bitter contrition
To the soil and
Sand
For soaking up water
With roots unbidden
Bending to the wind
With pleas of remorse
That its
Paper thin petals
Would block any flow
Stem bent and darkened
In rancorous repentance
Tendrils upended
Revealed
Deflated grey and
Nitrogen-deficient
Decrowned yellow
Head
Left battered
Devoid of petals
All blown away
In a condemnatory
Wind
