And Autumn Begins

The cool misty morning

The fog descends

A chill stirs

As autumn begins

---

The dew dries up

With the summer heat

The orange leaves

Crunch under my feet

---

Loose dresses

Turn to woolen sweaters

This time of the year

Everything gets better

---

Baked goods

Warm drinks

Just soak the dishes

In the kitchen sink

---

Take it slow

Nowhere to go

Sit on the couch

And watch a show

---

Apple ciders

And pumpkin spice

Linger in the air

Through autumn's night

---

My garden shrivels

The weeds die down

Nothing left to do

But meander the town

---

Open windows

Rain rushes in

Light my candles

Evenings about to begin

---

The things unfinished

This summer season

Doesn’t seem to matter

It has no reason

---

Soon the bright hues

Will turn to white

Another season

To just sit tight
