The Sister Continents
On William Blake’s Europe Supported by Africa and America

Dear sisters, can we stand together?
Can we take a stand
Against oppression and tyranny?
Dear sisters, can we stand together?
Can we be united
Against those who would bind us?
Dear sisters, can we stand together?
Can we fight as one
And break the chains that tie us down?
Dear sisters, can we stand together?
Can we bring forth a brand new day
For the generations that will come after us?
Dear sisters, can we stand together?
Can you support me in my time of need
And hold me up as I feel weak?
Dear sisters, can we stand together?
Can you support my glutinous ways
While I leech off your rich lands and people?
Dear sisters, do not leave my side
These chains will keep you by me
Through good times and through bad
For as long as I shall need you
And only then I will set you free—
But do not come back if you need me
