The Shadow Within Me
Everyone has a little darkness
All around me
The sun shine is bright
But inside consuming
Lurks the colour of night
Deeply disturbing
As though losing my sight
Equally unnerving
Is my throat closing tight
I can’t see who’s speaking
The words whispered so clearly
I reach out as though seeking
Someone I held dearly
My panic now peaking
Reaching ever so meekly
I feel anger it’s leaking
Coming from somewhere within me
In daylight I sit back
Close my eyes
Inwards I retract
Inside my head I hear cries
For I now know what is fact
It’s my happiness which dies
It’s the darkness ,the black
