She is waiting for you, I heard him caw

As they gathered in the trees

Circling a cobbled wall

Ivy covered with crimson leaves

So I took the unknown path

Trusting those sweet, ravenous thieves

Never wanting to look back

Wearing adventure on my sleeves

He led the way through brambled vines

The path before unclear to see

Losing about all track of time

He circled back to check on me

Pushing me on, into the brush

Colors exploding in the trees

Petrichor filling my lungs

His melody hung in the breeze

Tree trunks dressed in blackened bark

Accentuating mystery

The countdown of seasonal clocks

And Mother Nature’s tapestry

Branches broke and snapped away

Exposing fields fully ablaze

Falls and streams creating paths

Re-homing thin blankets of haze

Peeled away by sunlight's glow

Highlighting colors without name

That's simply how October goes

and every night the ravens came
