The Scar Becomes The Doorway

lyric

By Julie O'Hara - Author, Poet and Spiritual WarriorPublished 3 days ago • 1 min read

[Verse 1]
You asked the quiet room for answers
It handed back the shape you knew
A polished thought can feel like shelter
Till the walls begin to move
[Pre-Chorus]
So take the road that asks you questions
Let the old sure ground give way
[Chorus]
Easy answers keep you standing
Where you learned to close your eyes
Truth may leave a mark beneath you
Still, it teaches you to rise
Every lesson has its cutting
Every brave step takes its due
But the scar becomes a doorway
When you let the hard thing through
[Verse 2]
I watched you turn the page with shaking hands
And read the words you’d skipped before
They didn’t make the hurt less honest
They just showed you what it was for
[Pre-Chorus]
You don’t have to call it painless
You just have to choose the way
[Chorus]
Easy answers keep you standing
Where you learned to close your eyes
Truth may leave a mark beneath you
Still, it teaches you to rise
Every lesson has its cutting
Every brave step takes its due
But the scar becomes a doorway
When you let the hard thing through
[Bridge]
Let it sting, let it change you
Let the old map lose its lines
There is more than comfort waiting
On the far side of the why
[Final Chorus]
Easy answers keep you standing
But they cannot make you whole
Truth can leave a mark beneath you
And still widen out your soul
Every lesson has its cutting
Every brave step carries through
Now the scar becomes a doorway
And the wiser heart is you
[Outro]
The page turns under your fingers
You keep reading, you keep moving
