There's something in that story that brings you to your knees

A story of wonder and despair on winds traveling from the East

There was no peace in their screams and the trials that they faced

For they had known only one hand, the hand of a visciously fated beast

Their journey was like none other that had ever come before

Because they were the first of their unfortunate kind to cross

Desperate for something easier and cleaner they could call their own

It was sadly an unfortunate undertaking, one that could only end in loss

What they hunted for with their last unyielding breaths

Wasn't much for man or woman to ask

Peace and freedom were the dreams of simple folk back then

But the price for such things always comes with a bittersweet task

Smacked into the brutal and unyielding new world were they

Traveling with barely enough, they'd be safely sustained

But one battle after the other knocked down their numbers

Until their spirits and faith had finally waned

The cowboys started with many a fellow along

Their journey had proven too much

Not all saw the west in their lifetimes

Many faced only the savage lands touch
