The Ruthless Seraph of Shadows

A lament for lost tenderness in a world draped in deceit

By Rakayat Islam MuntasirPublished about a year ago 1 min read

From whence emerged this ruthless seraph,

With silent steps and poisoned laugh?

Where once bloomed joy’s gentle hue,

Now shadows reign where light once grew.

She cradles her own in silvered care,

While casting stones at children elsewhere.

By daylight, love's devotion shows,

By night, a thorned and venomous rose.

For selfish thirst her soul is bent,

Where hearts are currency, coldly spent.

Half-sane thoughts in twisted flight,

She dances with darkness, cloaked in light.

She feeds on silence, others' pain,

Her breath—a fog of frosted rain.

In mankind's play, she wears a mask,

Yet knows not love, nor dares to ask.

In crimson lust, her colors fade,

A chameleon trapped in her charade.

Let her drown in masquerade’s delight—

I seek the stars and endless night.
