The Ruins

Can you last?

By Dennis JamesPublished 7 years ago 1 min read

Living this thing,

you can't turn it off,

you can't

in disintegrating waves of patience;

the fiction fix.

Upended plans come apart

in loveless dust,

could they last another time

if they called

on you.

Again, again, again

subversion and undoing

bring to ruin those

least likely versions

and their frailty.

Solo in disrepair;

noiselessness fallen

to pieces...

can you last, can you last,

can you last?

Another time, another time;

will it ever find you

in the absence of light,

its duration is darkest

in the hush.
