If this child asks me one more question,
I am about to
Smile, and answer her questions politely
Because I care about this student, and she is polite as well.
I have never felt more blessed
Than when I walk into the classroom, and see all of those happy learners
Staring at me in excitement of the material they are about to learn
They are determined to try their best in their minds, I’m sure.
When the day continues on, and it feels as though I’ve only been here
For six hours, I smile, and count my blessings, because this is where I belong
Amongst the future generation,
Everyone has to start somewhere right?
I patiently wait while one of my students screams because they cannot contain their excitement
I patiently wait while one of my students runs to get out of his energy
I patiently wait while my students are quietly working on an assignment that is taking them
Longer than expected.
I adjust my lessons, I try to meet their needs,
At the end of the day, I am only one person, one teacher
In a classroom of easily twenty, and I wait patiently still
I hear a silent voice in my heart saying, “Don’t give up, teach.”
