The Rose Bud That Closed For Decades...
Has Now Opened
The rose bud closed for decades,
She felt fear,
Pain,
And trauma.
Year after year,
The same pain,
And trauma,
Raised its ugly head,
Hurting her,
Bruising her,
Inside and out.
Nobody heard her cry,
shout,
or,
Scream;
Nobody wanted to.
She was driven into silence,
Crying quiet, red tears of pain,
And anxiety,
Because who would believe her if she told the world
a man and a woman had raped her?
They had stolen her dignity,
Left her feeling more worthless than the hole in the ground,
In which she stood.
Decades later,
She shouted louder;
She told of the violence, abuse, rape and trauma,
Even though she lost her sanity as they called her a liar,
Once more.
She didn't stop,
Even though she was terrified.
She lost everything as she told those stories of,
Beatings, bruises, violation, disgust,
And;
Pain.
They repeatedly called her a liar,
Especially as she told them about the dirty things that man
and woman had done to her.
They believed the man had hurt her,
They didn't believe the woman had hurt her.
They were gender-biased,
Because the world believed that only men could do
terrible things.
A world that taught us that only men rape women,
A world that was oblivious to female rape;
A word that was dirty to every woman, or so it seemed to her.
But now;
The rose bud that closed for decades,
Has opened,
And that started with a man;
A man who took her by the hand,
And said,
"I believe you."
A man who showed her love and trust existed,
Even when through fear,
She put her walls up,
And fought it.
A man who believed that violence, rape and abuse can come from both
men and women.
A man who fought by her side, while lowering his head in shame because
his own gender had hurt a woman, too.
Rose bud continued to grow in strength,
And she bloomed,
Year after year,
She learned to trust while still keeping her wits around her,
Because women had also bullied her severely,
Because of what she had been through,
Yet still;
She never gave up.
Because a man had shown her more kindness than a woman,
Even though,
He knew that she was terrified of both.
This is my thank you to that man who stood by me through those traumatic years.
Women get hurt by men every day, and the world is an unsafe place for us.
Never - the - less, we must praise the good in the men, too.
I spent decades in trauma because of both men and women, but as I get told,
"It's rare for women to abuse."
While this may be the case, there is silence around this subject, and it needs breaking; because as I found out after almost ending my life because of it, and spending so much of my young life in a mental health hospital,
Women can be abusers, too.
