THE ROMATIC INTERLUDE

 My dream … oh well….

 <<><><><><><><

My job at the office was hectic;

I could hardly wait to get home.

I figured before my family arrived

I’d have a bath, in peace, and alone.

The drive home from work was murder;

There were traffic jams all the way.

The honking of horns made my head throb;

But, it was finally the end of the day.

I reached for my keys to open the lock;

I would kick the shoes off my feet.

But lo and behold!!!  as I opened the door,

My family waiting for me.

My husband had left his job early

And stopped to pick up the kids

For a night alone with the five of us –

He said, “We don’t have too much of this.”

They prepared dinner; we sat and we ate;

We played games ‘til the kids went to bed.

Then my husband and I sat on the couch,

On his shoulder, I rested my head.

He was right – these times don’t come too often,

It was great being alone but together.

I felt the weight of the world had been lifted

And my spirit was as light as a feather.

Now too long after, he opened some wine;

He lit candles and put out the lights.

It was the perfect ending of full hectic day:

Our interlude that came later that night.
