The Romantic

for myself to listen

By Krystyna KwiatkowskaPublished about a year ago • 1 min read

Slow mornings in the warming light,

steam flowing out of my cup,

my fingers kissed by the porcelain heat.

*

Music plays from the forest canopy,

my window a canvas of the natural world,

tweets slipping through the crack atop the breeze.

*

I crave for these moments

like the caress of a lover.

I ache for the sensation

like seduction of the soul.

*

Is it much for time to stand still?

Is it difficult for the world to pause?

Or simply for myself to listen?
