When you take your seat
At the communal bar
You enter into a contract
With all other patrons
For the pouring of beer is
Like the breaking of bread
Requiring you to briefly be
Friends or enemies by the pint
And you must listen to each other
Telling things no one
Really wants to hear
Or watch the games with either
Fanaticism or feigned interest
Discuss or argue
Meet someone new
Learn names that will
Soon be forgotten
Numbers entered incorrectly
For in this world
It is best to
Never drink alone
When the alternative is
Drinking with others
