The Remarkable Reappearance of Rattle

The joy of rediscovering your stuffed toy 🧸

By Gabriel B. ShamesPublished 6 months ago • 1 min read
Not Rattle, but still rocking out 🎸

Oh my god!

I’m stopped dead looking into the box I thought wouldn’t contain much.

Instead, staring back at me through eyes I almost forgot…

… Is Rattle, my boyhood stuffed rabbit.

All the feelings come rushing back.

Rattle was my comfort in a bizarre world,

My security blanket and friend rolled into one.

I adored every part of him, even the strange plastic strand I could feel inside the ears.

His design was simple…

… Too simple, some might say,

To feel affection for —

But it was beautiful to me.

His face was simple…

… Too simple, some might say,

But I could connect with it every time.

🐇🥹🐰🌠

I would snuggle his face to mine,

And reconnect with the joy in life.

I would take him on all my adventures,

And bask in the companionship I lacked.

He was better than imaginary.

It was Rattle and I…

… Real friends against the world!
