The Relief of Being Let Go

Ending and beginnings

Whether it’s a relationship break up, or the resignation from an employer, we feel a sense of relief, despite the bruised and battered Ego.

Maybe it was something you had sensed all along. Maybe it was a feeling in the pit of your stomach. Maybe it dragged on for much longer than it should’ve.

There is always the memories of how it started, a light-hearted whimsy, a sense of hope and optimism - a fantasy for a new beginning.

As time passes and people - or companies - reveal their true colours, it becomes apparent, “Ah… no. This isn’t what I signed up for.”

Should it really even be that surprising when it comes to corporations? Perhaps not.

But corporations or even small businesses are all made up of humans, and with humans, oftentimes, there is an inevitable disillusionment and disappointment.

Those who were most friendly may turn out to be the most incapable. Riding on the waves of charm and somehow, the benevolence of others.

The best that we can hope for is that we learned more about ourselves - what we will and will not tolerate. Boundaries, boundaries, boundaries.

Honouring yourself most when others do not see your value and re-aligning with those who do.
