The Reaper's Dissent

Feni's reflections

By Tiffeni BisterfeldtPublished 5 years ago 1 min read
Moon at Peace

Have you stood in the night and admired the ebony void

Stuffed between the stars, the black space of serenity

Stitching the cosmos together. A boundless sponge and

Wisest of confidants. It collects bitter sighs when your eyelids fall

And I weep that this paper is white

The sun brightens the day and cages you to its perceptions

It is not absorbing like the darkness of a black night

In the light, imagination is tied to a leash called tradition

The man beneath the streetlamp binds himself in its little circle

Come stand in the night and admire the void

With no preconceived possible. I weep

That he doesn't know black. He's wound tight

In the race track between dawn and dusk and

Doesn't have time to touch the infinite options

Stuffed between the stars. The black space of serenity,

A gentle sigh that rounds out

The harsh brightness of our little worlds

And lets free the leash of custom. A moment

Between blinks, when new thoughts can happen. Happiness

Stitching the cosmos together. This cosmic sponge

Needs no shades or permutations. Black is an

Elegance and welcoming infinity.

I gaze into the mysterious chasm of ink before

It dries and search for a glimpse of truth from

The wisest mentor, collecting bitter sighs when my eyelids fall

But, eventually night arrives and chaos slides away.

The space between your thoughts and the universal nucleus

Connect in that fleeting memory of your mother's womb

Such marvelous, meditative blackness

I weep that this paper is white
