The Realm of Success.

Poetry about generational inheritance and trauma.

By Zyla SilvaPublished about a year ago • 1 min read
Long story short, I had a friend who barely enjoyed his life outside of school. He had a brother and they both went to the same school. He also had a very succesful brother, the eldest. My friend was always concious about his actions, especially when his brother was around. I tend to ask him “Why do you get scared aroun him?” I never knew as he never told me why, and I never really knew because I didn’t have a sibling. That’s pretty much everything I can publically say. Maybe some of you might appreciate and relate to this poem.

The Realm of Success. By: Zyla Silva

Stuck to you from womb-

Every step, every crawl-

You control.

Not twins, not conjoined.

Just two siblings-

One older, one small.

In a structured unstructured family,

Where The King and The Queen play with their pawn.

The pawn transmits this pain,

To the poor and lonely horse.

Expectations that hit the galaxy;

Generations of success and reign.

Continuation of their name,

Success, that remain.

The horse, a leash it acquires.

And it’s mighty knight, the controller.

Follows orders from The Prince.

Moreover, The Prince follows order

From the highest to maintain order.

The lonely horse, unaware of its costs,

Follows the “Knight”, who declares:

“I know it all.”

Two species unseparated.

Facing war the highnesses can’t face,

To continue their generation.

The Knight fights for his passion.

To protect is his compassion.

Blinded by ambiguity.

The Knight, corrupted by the royalty’s demeanor.

For The King and The Queen

Two highest in the realm,

In fear of their eldests,

Ingrained cruelty and discipline.

Therefore, initially, the next generation,

they murder.

For this morally ambiguous matter-

Of knowing good, bad, and slaughter.

Has manipulated the bigotry of peace,

And now this family only stands as monarchy.

Have I told you about our Prince?

The heir to the throne.

The Prince, that’s quite well known.

The best of the three:

The Prince, The Knight, and The Horse.

The glory of The Prince, well-known.

Who battled wars and wars unknown.

The envious Knight, who’s passion is glory

And declares tongue-twistedly, “Compassion for my brothers and thee.”

And the blinded horse, who’s voice and motion is trapped, in a dungeon far away from it’s motherland.

A horse who’s identity that equals the

Value of soil.

Remains below the thrones of

The King and Queen.

As the horse’s personality

Become more malleable, and solidified

By The King, The Queen, The Prince and The Knight.
